Spring Cleaning Tips

Whether you love it or hate it, the time for spring cleaning is here once again. In the spirit of this annual tradition, we are offering up some of our best tips to get your home in tip top shape.

Make a Schedule

  • Taking time once a year to do a deep clean of your home can help keep you organized, healthy, and happy. Spring cleaning can help to eliminate dust, mold, and mildew before they become a problem. Decluttering and organizing can help you eliminate stress from your life and leave you feeling refreshed.

  • Creating a checklist or schedule like the one here, can help keep you organized and on task.

  • To start, take a look around your home and consider what areas need the most attention and what places tend to get skipped during routine cleanings. Go room to room, creating your lists.

Start with the Basics

  • Anytime you start a room, it’s important to remember to work from the top, down. By starting with the ceiling, walls, and fan then working your way to other areas, you should only have to dust and vacuum once. This will also help you to avoid missing areas.

  • Consider doing tasks that apply to all rooms, then moving from room to room to do more specific cleaning.

  • Create and follow a checklist to help keep you on track and to know what cleaning needs to be completed in each room.

  • Make notes of items that may need to be fixed or replaced like bathroom fans, faucets, light bulbs, fire alarm batteries, etc.

Enlist Help

  • Make spring cleaning a family affair. Create assignment lists or complete a room top to bottom together. Many hands make for light work, so the more the merrier.

Start Fresh

  • Spring is the perfect time to declutter, get organized, and make over rooms. Even small changes can make big impacts. Be sure to tackle closets, drawers, and desktops. Consider adding new, colorful pillows or art to enhance a space.

  • Replacing items like bedding, towels, window treatments, or table linens can also freshen up your home. If purchasing new items is not in the budget, put your dryer to work by tossing in drapes, curtains, and even throw pillows on an air-only cycle. Be sure to take out and hang immediately after to avoid wrinkles.

Let the season put a spring in your step and help you work your way to a fresh, clean home. With our helpful tips you’ll be on your way.
